Mental Health Awareness in Construction
May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and it’s time to shine a light on mental health in construction. Construction workers have a higher suicide rate than almost any other industry, and the rate is more than three times that of the general population.
Did you know that more construction workers die by suicide than all other injuries on-site? It is for this reason that it is often referred to as the “silent killer” in construction. Safe construction practices are a top priority for Donlar Construction, and mental health is an essential component of site safety. Workers suffering from poor mental health are more likely to injure themselves or others on the construction site.
It is crucial to raise awareness about mental health in construction and find a way to create a culture of caring to support happier and safer workers. The construction industry does a fantastic job protecting the physical wellbeing of its workforce; now it is time to focus on mental health. Spread awareness on-site and at home.
